Our Link To St Martin's Church
The community centre was built in 2006 on land owned by St Martin’s Church and replaces the old green Church of England Men’s Society wooden hall that was built in 1907 that stood here previously. At this time members of St Martin’s Church family were very involved with the funding, design and build of the new Community Centre, these included The Very Rev. Marc Trickey, Rev. Mike Keirle, Ralph Gabriel, Peter Danks, Henry Goodeve, Hugh Stevenson, John Button and Roger Morgan amongst others.
The rector of St Martin’s Parish Church, The Rvd Daniel Foot, sits on the board of Trustees, and the centre is regularly used by St Martin’s Junior Church, for large, relaxed and informal services, and for the church’s social events.
